Hi Linda, I'm also related to the Sandals family that ran the Lewes Arms in the first half of the last century. I love your Mum's stories of her time living there. Glad your Mum got to go back for a visit. I go there often for lunch with my family.

Hiya, my mum's family ran the pub from 1900 to 1949, her grandmother Mary Bennett and her aunt Louise Sandals, it was great to get mum back there this week and find such an historically interested landlord, Dave. We had a great time in a wonderful atmosphere, many changes since her childhood, some for the better Keep up the good work Lewes Arms.

I missed all this - but a very big congratulations to one and all at the front line with the FoLA.

Many years ago I drank at the Lewes Arms and with a few mates used a cellar area near by to rehea**e a band.

I'll pop by and have a pint soon.

Well done.

lol @ the crudity censor... heh.

Well done!
It's great to know that people power still exists. I had lost hope when reading of Greene King's decision to close the Hardys & Hansons brewery in Kimberley near Nottingham, an act of philistine vandalism against a wonderful ramshackle place with overhead conveyors a la plenty and buckets of character. Kimberley Ale was a delicious pint, with sweetness alongside just a hint of hoppiness, a great thirst quencher and very quaffable in bulk. And also one of the cheapest in the country. Killed by Greene King.

But while the Notts folk may have lain down and passively consented to be run over, GK made a big mistake in taking on the folk of Lewes! More power to your bonfire lighters!

Looking forward to some great pints of Harveys - a truly fantastic ale - on my next visit. But which variety to choose - decisions, decisions ...

Well done to the simple pint drinker against the power of the penny pincher. All hail to the fine folk in abstaining and getting a succesful result. Next time I know where I will be drinking and of course, Landlord, I will have a Harvey's

Wonderful news.
I am looking forward to visiting the Lewes Arms again and continuing to enjoy Harvey's Products once more.
Congratulations on the campaign.

It is now many years since my regular Pub was taken over by Greene King and Harveys was replaced by "Superior Greene King Beers including their own Badge engineered Guest beers, aka Morlands & Ruddles" - To provide choice.
It is interesting to note, that the Promises made by Greene King at the time regarding the success of the premises have yet to come to fruition and the Pub remains as a poor shadow of it's former self.

Good luck and don't take your eyes off the ball. Does this mean that Harvey's Old Ale will return in due course ?

Well done
J Walters

Harveys has been in Australia! When James Blatch and Rachel married near Parks, Hamish Elder gave all the Lewes based guests two (?) gallons each which we carried as hand luggage. On arrival we put it all together and Hamish then used finings he had brought. It was delicious - James had quite a few I remember.

I have never been in your pub although I intend to remedy that when I am next in Lewes!

Well done - I have a dream that one day Harveys will take over Greene King!
